An original early issue Birkenhead Fire Brigade 1948 to 1974 cap badge, the enamel centre fitted to the standard economy issue, lined Home Office star, both cap fixing lugs intact to the rear of the badge & showing brass through the chrome to indicate early issue late 1940's to early 1950's. Later produced badges had all chrome lugs.
