Birkenhead Fire Brigade post ww2 NFS had 2 fire stations covering 14 square miles of the Birkenhead area. The post war Birkenhead Fire Brigade formed in 1947 and lasted 27 years until amalgamated into Merseyside Fire Brigade in 1974.  
This original example Birkenhead Fire Brigade 1948 to 1974 cap badge is in great condition, the enamel centre fixed to the slightly domed fully pressed issue Home Office star, both cap fixing lugs intact to the rear of the badge. The slightly longer lugs indicating a late 1940's issue.
