Birkenhead Fire Brigade post ww2 NFS had 2 fire stations covering 14 square miles of the Birkenhead area. The post war Birkenhead Fire Brigade formed in 1947 and lasted until amalgamated into Merseyside Fire Brigade in 1974 so 27 years. 
This original Birkenhead Fire Brigade cap badge although complete has suffered damage due to being involved in a fire. The 2 piece badge with the enamel red ring centre attached to the standard economy issue, lined Home Office star, both cap fixing lugs attached to the rear of the badge and show signs of being fitted to a cap at some stage in its life.
