Bedfordshire Fire & Rescue Service was formed in 1989 when Bedfordshire Fire Service changed its title to Fire & Rescue Service. It lasted until 1996 when the brigade changed it's title again to Bedfordshire & Luton Fire & Rescue Service & a new badge was issued.
There are 2 main variations of the Fire & Rescue cap badge, one is an ERROR badge which used to lions either side of the Bedfordshire coat of arms. The correct badge should have had a lion standing to the left & an ox standing to the right as this badge has.
This badge manufactured by London Badge & Button Company, official suppliers to the brigade is in excellent condition, the gilt enamel centre fixed to the standard issue fully pressed Home Office star, both cap fixing lugs are intact to the rear.
