Angus Area Fire Brigade was a post war era fire brigade set up after the N.F.S ( National Fire Service ) handed over regional controls to the county's & county boroughs. The area it covered was 860 square miles & Angus had 10 fire stations covering its ground. In 1975 it became Tayside Fire Brigade.
The Angus Region has been carbondated to around 3,500 B.C & is said to be the birthplace of modern Scotland. Originally part of the Pictish Kingdom of Circinn & known in Gaelic as Aonghas, it was from the 18th Century known as Forfarshire until 1928.
